Jacob Davis, a graduate of the University of Mobile, has served for the last four years as a teacher of English as part of the JET Program sponsored by the Japanese government. Prior to that he served as a tutor at the University of Mobile in Mobile, Alabama USA for the Learning Center, an academic resource at the university. He tutored students usually with their English papers. Many of his clients were the foreign students who needed special assistance. Because of his interest in Far East culture, Jacob applied for and was accepted into the JET program in the Spring of 2002. Since arriving in Japan, he has made many new friends including other JET teachers and many Japanese friends. In fact, the kindness of the Japanese in welcoming him to the country and helping him as he learned his way around has made the experience very rewarding. |
